Doing the impossible

My friend asked me if I could do some work on his Bile Trolls to get his unit to rank up, he has 9 of them and uses them as Beasts of Nurgle in his Daemon army(yes he is a power gamer) and when he got married I offered to do a figure as his wedding present, the figure has changed and grown(power gamer) since this time to the point that I have never been able to do it. So I said not only will I repose them, I'll repaint and base them, partly because rebasing would give me more options to me for ranking up these monsters.
So first step is to create a base for the unit I've used foam board and lined up 9 40mm bases in ranks of three and cut it out, then gridded it lightly with a scalpel, so I can see where the figures need to fit into.
Next I took the figures and removed them from the bases and only managed to snap off three of the feet, and put them in the box with the magic goop, if you have not used bio strip, you're working too hard.

Ten minutes in the goop rinse and whilst gently scrubbing with a nail brush and you end up with this.
A jug of boiling water stretching out limbs and compressing arms and raising positions so they interlock.

That was Thursday night, and tonight I split them and cut so I could undercoat them.

And finally here we are undercoated and still ranking up.

The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy and friends

So X wing has kind of taken over my hobby time, I really like the game it's easy to pick a bugger to master and the ships come pre-painted and look great, so no messing around straight to gaming, but it would be nice if Luke's x wing was in his specific colours and R2 was more than a silver blob, and so the rot began.

And then i had an issue at a tournament with a b wing, where I based all my moves on my opponents b wing  and it all went quite wrong. So new paint job and position( oh yes we're getting cocky here)

Now here's the falcon.
How it comes, but with pieces  removed.
Base coated
Then red bits both sides.

Grey bits both sides

First stage of highlights

Now with washes and weathering

Base stick and ship mount cut for angle and magnets mounted.

Kingdom Death NSFAW your starter for 10

So I've tried something new for the new for the kingdom death figures, white undercoat! All these good painters swear by it, so as these figures aren't exactly your average spack marine here we go.
So first the base the background I've read about the and the kickstarter video give me the impression of a kind of silent hill world but the characters don't know that a real world exists or who they are or why everything wants to eat them, there is no sun, no stars the only source of light is the lanterns you find when you wake up. But there are bits of random structure like this remnant of a brick wall  with plaster on the wall. So I wanted to make the wall  look like a old blackened red brick wall with mouldy plaster on the other side.

So now the first layers of paint on the figure.

There are all the base colours on and see I put the head on a pin like a real painter, get me there should be lots of stage by stage photos but there really wasn't that many in  fact this was all done in one evening so here is the finished figure.

So first one done next one is the pin up version of the twilight knight and then onto the satan twins with there armour(minimal) of tongues and the skirt of severed cocks. A lot of my time has been taken up with this though.
New bookcase to release space for toys

And this also takes up a fair bit of my time but I don't have to paint these although I may do a couple Lukes Xwing is certainly getting an accurate paint job with R2.

If you've not played this game you're missing out it's simple to learn but a bugger to master, what all great strategy games should be.

The aftermath

Well we went  and I took a photo of our first game and that was about it. I got nominated for shiniest toys, didn't win but got nominated. Rich Packer won (boo hiss) no actually Rich is really good and his army is really striking. I took piccies of all the armies in the cabinets so we'll see how good they look.
Mine
 Other peoples
Tris and Carls we played this in game two. It beat us

 The winner

Not the winner but lots of nice comments

So quick run down of the games game 1 double Warriors of Chaos, meeting engagemant

First shot of the game the treb lands right on target on the warriors who break hit the hell cannon go on through and bounce over and off the board, then big spiny monster next too it gets shot off the table by poison arrows, how can we lose? Well it took us 5 more turns but we found a way.

Game 2 daemons and warriors Tris and Carl, watchtower, we lost due to the jamminess of Tris's lord  who always ran just far enough but not off the board and always bloody rallied. and Carls remaining 2 horrors in the watch tower just wouldn't die.
Game 3 Tom and Dan, Blood and Glory I have never seen anyone have so many things go wrong in a game, not even myself and i've had some legendary ones as Neil Kerr and his Ork Nob Bikers will testify to ( over 100 bloody shots all hitting on a maximum of 3 and I caused 1 wound, 1 WOUND! not bitter though), they broke in turn 2 after most of there army had died or run off in turn 1 and where tabled by turn 4, they where however perfect gentlemen about it and never sulked or got arsey.

Day Two started like this
and was followed by game 4, which coincidently was also Nurgle themed.
Game 2 warriors/ daemons, battleline, big block of warriors, huge block of plauge bearers with Epy and Dragon ogres, beasts of nurgle and nurglings just to make life hard, turn 1 reign of chaos, the dark prince two of my units of knights get blasted one down to three men fail their panic test and run of the table, one down to one man stays but i have bugger all for him to do now, Oh cock and other associated slannesh probings next turn same again but no wounds and then somehow we won and won big. Still not sure how.

So game 5 night goblins/chaos dwarfs, dawn attack, 93 bowmen 2 flame cannons 2 spear chukas(which do D3 wounds not D6 as my opponent was claiming) a rock lobba and a squig lobba 3 wizards 20 chaos dwarfs and 4 bull centaurs a game of much faffing and messing and artillery that ended in a draw and a good one at that. I'm not a fan of flame cannons.
Well i'm back now and i had a good time in all my games so tonight i started something new,
 SPACE HULK GRIBBLIES
and a cool mini or not owl which is going to require a lot of work filling those chasm size gaps.
Robyn had her first go as the marines on Tuesday and won( she may be still bragging about it)
