Command squad done!

So i finished the squad on sunday and i've now hot 4 squads base coloured and washed, or as Robyn occasionally tells me DONE!
 Now just to bring them up to table top and all that's left is the deathwing knights (working up to them) which are, the ravenwing bikes, dreadnought and drop pod(not built not even in the house yet) and we're done so here's some termies

And just for comedy value something i saw at work today, not sure how someone can use this much wood to build something this shit

Dark Angels

I moved house last year in a rush, and a friend worked his arse off to make that happen. So this is his almost finished death wing command squad and librarian that will lead his army. I have to have the whole lot done for the 18th of may for throne of skulls. I'd better get a shift on.

Dreadfleet

Starting painting tiny wee ships here's two nights progress

 skaven ship, ghost ship and chaos dwarf kraken are all done with dwarf ship and tombking ship well on the way.

Storm Talon Finished Yeah

So it's finally finished and placed upon it's base, and it looks pretty cool so here it is.

And with my other one these two will make up parts of my armies on parade board.

Finished the base!!

Well many months late i've finally finished the base not only missing the original tournament it was for, but the next one as well. It's replacement the librarian on bike did not do a damn thing all day. So here is the fist pic.

This is also going to be part of my armies on parade entry for this year, along with lots of space marine scouts. and land speeders so that what i shall be painting mainly this year with some time out for sedition wars when it arrives and kingdom death monster come november.
I'm also hoping to paint space hulk and dreadfleet as well as 3 years after buying space hulk we finally played it last week.

 The techmarine is Chronos for whom i had no real use but who looks quite cool.

And done, two months late but done.

So finally finished month two of GIMPS and yay! This will get upgraded to ten man squad the other four with thunder hammers. Painting these has been a real slog for no good reason, but has made me try a few new things and return to some old technics, namely drybrushing.
When you first start you dry brush because its the easy way to blend and highlight, then you learn how to blend and highlight in other ways that leave a more realistic finish and you sneer at your dry brushed work and if your a bit of a cock patronise those who still use it. Then you have one of those little lightbulb moments and realise that this is still a valid technique at any skill level for instance mine today was whilst doing the crux terminatus on terminators, for me they are always stone because thats what the original lore said. They where made of stone, containing a piece of the emporers throne so grey. Well I'm faffing around highlighting and blending and not getting the look and texture I want and "bing" drybrushing that will give me what I want in a fraction of the time and actually look like stone at the end.
